Today’s vote on Bill 7 is not about political camps — it is about Zambia.
It is about addressing long-standing constitutional gaps, strengthening representation through fair delimitation, and reducing costly by-elections that have drained public resources and, in the past, tragically claimed innocent lives.
President Hakainde Hichilema has demonstrated leadership aimed at protecting democracy, not exploiting it. Bill 7 reflects this intent: closing legal loopholes, promoting the inclusion of women, youth, and persons with disabilities, and allowing national resources to be redirected toward critical development priorities — education, health, infrastructure, and food security.
This moment calls for courage and responsibility.
Honourable Members of Parliament are being asked to rise above noise and act in the long-term interest of the nation.
Zambia will remember the choice made today.
