Every day, we see the pain that alcohol and drug abuse bring into our homes and communities.
Broken families, dreams are lost, and lives are cut short because of substances that were never meant to be consumed. It’s a painful reality that we cannot continue to ignore.
I want to sincerely commend the Lusaka City Council, working together with the Zambia Police Service, for their continued efforts to fight the sale and consumption of illicit alcohol in our city.
During their recent operation in the CBD, they seized kachasu and tujilili from areas like Kulima Tower and Stanley Bar, and sadly, some traders went as far as hiding these drinks in MOJO bottles to deceive authorities.
This shows how serious the problem has become, but also how determined our law enforcement officers are to protect public health and restore order. These actions deserve our full support.
As someone who continues to advocate against drug and alcohol abuse, I call on all of us parents, youth, community leaders, and citizens, to stand together.
May we continue to protect one another, speak out, and guide those who are struggling. We all have a role to play in building a healthier and more responsible citizens.
